This collection contains several data sets that overlay moon data onto the earth. The following data sets are included.
- Color shaded relief map of the moon from USGS.
- Color Mosaic from Arizona State University Space Exploration Resources
- Greyscale image from Clementine mission with source image from Northwestern University.
- Features collection contains the locations of about 9,000 craters and other features. This dataset was originally compiled by Jonathan McDowell and is available directly from his website. I have also included an optional Feature set that only includes features larger than 10 meters in size for slower computers.
- Several WMS Layers are also provided
Simply open the KML file linked above with Google Earth. This will overlay the moon data on top of the regular Google Earth data. Make sure and disable borders, roads, atmosphere, etc.
