National Register of Historic Places

Description:

National Register of Historic Places from the National Park Service. Contains approximately 80,000 placemarks showing locations of registered historic places in the US and US Territories. This collection is not intended to be current or complete. You should go to the National Park Service website if current and accurate information is required. The placemarks do have some geocoding errors, which are carried over from the original data set and I will not be correcting them. Also, this collection does not include historic places that are defined by an area because that dataset has too many errors to be of any use.

Special Instructions:

This is a very large placemark collection. It will probably take 15-30 seconds to load on a fast computer. It may not work at all on slower computers.

    This is a great collection!

I did notice that a placemark labeled US Post Office — Glendale Main is out in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Mexico.

There is also a cluster of six placemarks in the ocean west of Los Angeles.
